A useful kidswear tech pack gives everyone a common reference for the garment being discussed. It does not need polished presentation to begin a conversation, but it should distinguish confirmed decisions from questions. The following suggestions illustrate how a brand can organise an initial development brief.
Start with one identifiable style
Give the garment a working style name and revision number. Add front and back drawings, reference photographs, and a short description of the intended fit. Keep inspiration separate from instructions: a reference image may communicate a mood without specifying its fabric, construction, or decoration.
Make the basic choices easy to find
- Product category, intended age range, and proposed size range.
- Fabric direction, colours, and any available material references.
- Measurements with units and an explanation of how each point is measured.
- Artwork, embroidery placement, labels, and packaging requirements.
If something is undecided, label it as a question. For example, a preferred fabric weight and a confirmed fabric specification are different inputs. Keeping that distinction visible helps the development discussion focus on what still needs a decision.

Organise the handover
- Gather drawings and reference images under the same style name.
- Check that measurement units, colour references, and artwork filenames agree.
- Mark open questions and identify which sample details need review.
- Send one current version, retaining earlier versions for comparison.
A clear brief separates what is already decided from what the team still needs to discuss.
Keep changes traceable
After a discussion, update the relevant page rather than leaving instructions scattered across messages. A short change note can identify the revised measurement, position, or construction detail. Avoid silently replacing a file while keeping the same revision name.
These are organising suggestions, not a promise that any particular design, material, price, or delivery date can be accepted. Project details still need review. Explore the OEM manufacturing approach and design and sampling information when preparing the next conversation.
