Confirm the fabric and colour reference before committing the production materials.

Customer-specified materials need a clear handover

For nominated suppliers or customer-supplied materials, agree purchasing responsibilities, inspection, suitability and timing before production.

MATERIAL HANDOVER

Customer-nominated materials need clear responsibility

For customer-supplied or nominated materials, agree purchasing responsibility, inspection, suitability, minimums and timing before production. A material request is not a confirmation that the material is available, compliant or suitable for every garment.

WHO SOURCES THE MATERIAL

Three ways a material reaches the order

The route decides what is agreed before production.

Sourced to the brief

The requirement is matched against available materials and quoted with the garment.

A nominated supplier

Your supplier is used where practical; purchasing is coordinated, incoming material is checked and any risk is raised in advance.

Customer-supplied material

Accepted by prior agreement on normal loss, replenishment responsibility, storage, sorting, inspection and handling.

BEFORE CUTTING

Material is confirmed before it is committed to bulk

Composition, weight, hand feel, colour and any required testing are confirmed against the approved sample before the material is cut. Colour is approved against a physical standard rather than a screen. Where a material or a supplier is nominated by the customer, its minimum order and lead time are part of the schedule, and a delay or a defect in that material is not automatically borne by the manufacturer — while a risk that was visible and not raised is.
